Interview:
V: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
K: Thanks so much for having me here today at Zemfirka Blogs.  I am so excited to have the opportunity to visit with you and your readers.

I am the author of the erotic paranormal romance series, The Immortals of New Orleans.  In addition to romance, I’ve written and published several articles about autism and currently write for both PsychologyToday.com and AutismInRealLife.com.  I’m also honored to be a contributing essay author in new release, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Raising Kids on the Spectrum.

V: When and why did you begin writing? Was writing always a passion of yours?
K: I have always wanted to write a book, but I don’t think that is the same thing as considering yourself a writer.  I don’t think I considered myself a writer until I submitted autism articles and was published in a magazine.  Then, I was like, “Hmm…maybe I can write.”

As far as writing romance, I actually started to write a book about autism, but I seemed to have a block on where to go with it.  I love, love, love reading paranormal romances.  So I just decided one day that I wanted to write a paranormal romance, and I created Kade’s Dark Embrace, which was published in March 2012.

V: What books, authors have most influenced you, your writing?
K: There are so many great authors out there; it’s difficult to pick just one.  If I had to narrow it down, I would say J.R. Ward.  Her stories literally pull you in and won’t let you go.  I can remember reading all of her books over the course of a month, one after another, and thinking, ‘this should be an HBO series’.  I literally was up all night reading them.  You find yourself emotionally tied to fictitious characters because her writing makes you feel like they are real people.

Other authors I love to read are James Patterson and also Dan Brown.  They both are unbelievably creative and write incredible mysteries.

V: Tell us about your series, The Immortals of New Orleans. What should the readers expect?
K: The Immortals of New Orleans is erotic paranormal romance series with an element of mystery and suspense in every book. There are four books in the series so far.  The first two, Kade’s and Luca’s books, have heroes who are vampires.  The second two, Tristan’s and Logan’s books, have heroes who are shifters/wolves.  Throughout the series, there are all kinds of supernaturals including vampires, wolves, witches, mages, etc.  Each book can be read standalone but some readers prefer to read them in order.

V: How did you come up with idea for the series? What drew you to this particular genre?
K: I always enjoyed reading paranormal romance, so that’s why I chose to write in that genre.  There is just something magical about leaving the reality of real life and being able to write about anything you want.  In a paranormal romance, characters are open to all kinds of experiences that are only limited by the author’s imagination.  They have supernatural gifts and talents, and the rules of game can be anything you want them to be.  And of course, there is nothing sexier than a hot alpha male vampire…well, except for, perhaps, a hot alpha male wolf.

V: I have to agree with you there! And your books certainly deliver on the hot alpha male front.

What are you currently working on?
K: Logan’s Acadian Wolves is my current work in progress and will be releasing in September.  At the end of Tristan’s book, his beta, Logan, is left in a heart wrenching predicament.  I don’t want to say too much about what it is because it would be a spoiler for those who haven’t read it yet.  Logan’s Acadian Wolves picks up from where the epilogue ends.

V: At last, I got to ask you about food! I often share my recipes here on the blog, and I’m always interested in what others are cooking as well! Please tell us about your favorite dish (or share a recipe).
K: Well, I have to say that I love to eat…a little too much sometimes. As far as cooking, I’m not so great with detailed recipes.  When I cook, I have a tendency to throw meals together, not really using precise measurements (unless I’m baking).  I love seafood, so one of my favorite dishes is Shrimp and Scallops with Asparagus, Red Peppers and Pepperoni over Capellini.  When I make the dish, I try to always use homemade pasta, even if it’s been premade.  Although now that I’ve been on low carb diet, sometimes I make the dish sans pasta.  I pretty much throw all the ingredients (chopped veggies and seafood) into a skillet with olive oil and lots of fresh garlic, cook it up and then pour it over the pasta.  Sprinkle with a bit of grated Pecorino Romano cheese and yum!

V: Sounds yummy!

Thank you Kym for taking time out of your busy schedule to share with us today, and I wish you continued success in your writing career!

Victoria, xoxo

K: Thanks so much for having me to your blog!
